Highlights Preview
The events of intangible cultural immersion experience will be broadcast live by the teachers at Hexu Ethnic Folk Cultural Center, supervising the participants to learn and experience seven kinds of intangible cultural heritage as follows:
1. Paper cutting
Paper cutting, as an ancient Chinese folk art, is one of the Chinese culture symbols. It uses paper, bark, leaves, cloth, leather and other materials to achieve the purpose of artistic creation through the techniques of cutting, carving, tearing, and ironing and so on.
2. Pyrography
Also known as "Fire Needle Embroidery", pyrography is a treasure of traditional Chinese art. The artists heat the soldering iron with fire to burn marks on objects to paint. This art form adopts the methods of drawing, outlining, pointing, dyeing, rubbing, and plain drawing in traditional Chinese painting. By burning it can also create rich layers and hues with a strong three-dimensional effect, resembling brown sketches and lithographs.
3. Tangled flowers
In traditional art projects, multi-color silk threads are wound on cardboard and copper wires, and finally turned into works of art such as birds, animals, insects, fish, flowers and fruits.
4. Dough figurines
Commonly known as "flower mold" and "dough figurines making". Flour as the main material is mixed into different colors, and artists use their hands and simple tools to create various lifelike characters.
5. Leather carving
By scratching, tapping, push and pull, squeezing, and carving the leather, artists can create visual and tactile effects such as depth, distance, and concave and convex. Themes of artworks range from landscape paintings to decorative patterns such as ornamentations.
6. Rubbing technique
Rubbings are made by carefully pressing paper onto the text and pictures of gold and stone objects, and then printed with ink. Because this technique is mainly applied to gold and stone artifacts, such as inscriptions, epitaphs, oracle characters, pottery characters, bronze inscriptions, jade patterns, eaves tile’s patterns, portrait stones, bronze mirrors, currency, bronze utensils, etc., it is also called gold stone rubbing technique.
7. Guqin
Guqin is a traditional Chinese plucked string instrument, with a wide range, deep and lingering sound. It is one of the earliest plucked string instruments of the Chinese nation and a gem in Chinese culture. It ranks first in the four arts of "guqin, chess, calligraphy and painting", and is regarded as an embodiment of elegance by the Chinese. The tale of Boya and Zhong Ziqi becoming soulmates because of "Lofty Mountains and Flowing Waters" has been passed down to this day, and "Qintai" (Guqin Platform) is regarded as a symbol of friendship afterwards. In modern times, with the footsteps of Chinese people spreading all over the world, guqin has become one of the symbols of oriental culture in the eyes of global citizens.
The School of International Chinese Studies of Yunnan Normal University will deliver a full coverage on this event and record the whole process of the participants' exchange experiences. On this occasion, we sincerely welcome global Chinese language learners, enthusiasts and users to gather on the cloud to celebrate the International Chinese Language Day 2022 with us, and let us work together to build a bright future for international Chinese language education.
